  • Activesmart Geraldton

Client: Department of Sport and Recreation

    Location: Greater Geraldton, Western Australia

    vic_harbour

In 2010, surveys in Greater Geraldton found that residents were aware of the benefits of engaging in 30 minutes of physical activity each day, yet many found it hard to make this happen. UrbanTrans is delivering this health-oriented behaviour change project, working one-on-one with over 4,000 households to help them progress through incremental steps toward increasing their levels of physical activity. The program features on-going individual coaching sessions, progressive goal-setting, tracking progress with pedometer counts, and a strong emphasis on social connectivity and activity planning with friends and family. During the first phase of the project, UrbanTrans recruited over 80% of all households contacted, nearly double the forecast recruitment rate.

    Location: Auckland, New Zealand

UrbanTrans has developed a personalised journey planning approach to engage workers and visitors to New Lynn Mall and provide them with customised information on sustainable options for their travel to this suburban activity centre. Participants receive a pack with specific information on their journey and a simple action plan. A follow up phone call by our journey planners provides further information and encouragement about travelling sustainably in the area. Another call a couple of months later records what changes have been made.

  • Travelsmart communities

How do you deliver a behaviour change program to 72,000 households, while still providing highly personalised services and exceptional customer service? UrbanTrans met this challenge, offering start-to-finish implementation services for this Sunshine Coast project. The initiative included one-on-one dialogue with interested households, provision of tailored support materials direct to the front door, and local events to increase community interest and participation. The large-scale community engagement was supported by a sophisticated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for tracking all households as they moved through the project.

  • Sunshine Coast Destinations

    Client: Sunshine Coast Council

    Location: Sunshine Coast, Queensland

vic_harbour How do you develop a demand management strategy for destination clusters with a council team in a way that builds capacity and reduces reliance on contractors? Instead of providing arm’s length advice, UrbanTrans placed a team of senior planners in the Sunshine Coast Regional Council for several days to create the strategy in collaboration with council. Besides kick-starting the work in a short time, this approach included training and mentoring staff to ensure the strategy would be effectively delivered.
