  • City of Maribyrnong
    Integrated Transport Strategy

    Client: City of Maribyrnong

    Location: Melbourne, Victoria

    vic_harbour

Maribyrnong is at the gateway to Melbourne’s central city and port. It is also the corridor to Melbourne's western growth areas. This brings major demands for freight and cross-city movement, which compete with the community’s local access needs in a diverse and rapidly growing municipality. UrbanTrans has developed a ten-year transport plan for council that responds to these challenges by taking an integrated approach to managing access for all modes and giving priority to sustainable transport options.

  • Docklands Transport Strategy

    Client: VicUrban

    Location: Melbourne, Victoria

    vic_harbour

Docklands is at a halfway point; over the next decade it will double its population and employment. Major growth will also happen in surrounding areas over the next 10-20 years. Together, this growth will increase pressure on existing access and mobility. UrbanTrans has developed a transport strategy that will enable a significant shift in travel behaviour to respond to future demand with a mix of ready-to-implement short term actions and long term visionary changes to maximise the livability and sustainability of the precinct.

  • Docklands Multi-Modal
    Transport Model

    Client: VicUrban

    Location: Melbourne, Victoria

    vic_harbour

UrbanTrans has developed a precinct-level transport model to help plan the future of Docklands in Melbourne's central city. An extensive program of surveys (including residents, workers and visitors) provided rich data, and detailed research helped to develop a comprehensive transport model of the precinct. The model’s benefits include its simplicity, its ability to model walking and cycling trips as well as private vehicles and public transport, its responsiveness and flexibility, and its ability to be used and understood by a range of non-technical practitioners.

  • Moonee Valley
    Walking and Cycling Plan

    Client: Moonee Valley City Council

    Location: Melbourne, Victoria

    vic_harbour

The City of Moonee Valley is a suburban council with high dependency on car travel that is keen to shift more trips to walking and cycling. UrbanTrans worked with the council to develop a locally-relevant strategy. Improving the local road infrastructure with progressive traffic engineering design is just one piece of the puzzle to increase travel by walking and cycling. The strategy also addresses road safety, end of trip facilities and demand management requirements to support changes in travel behaviour.

  • Transport Analysis and
    Engineering Services

    Client: City of Melbourne

    Location: Melbourne, Victoria

    vic_harbour

As the central municipality, the City of Melbourne grapples with the most intensive travel demands of Melbourne. UrbanTrans provides ongoing transport analysis and engineering support to the City of Melbourne to supplement the in-house expertise of the transport engineering team. Recent work has included the Queen Victoria Markets Access Study, analysis of future access issues and priorities for the city's North West growth corridor, parking studies and local engineering audits.

  • Victoria Harbour
    Multi Modal Access Study

    Client: Lend Lease Development

    Location: Melbourne, Victoria

vic_harbour In 2009, Victoria Harbour was expecting an 85% increase in employees in less than one year. The project began with a forecast of travel demand against a quantification of transport capacity across all travel modes. UrbanTrans forecast parking demand over time, conducted cycling access capacity estimates, and detailed the impacts of different transport demand management scenarios. The results were used to detail the implications of various mode split scenarios and highlight key issues for consideration by key stakeholders.
  • Werribee Employment Precinct
    Sustainable Transport Strategy

    Client: VicUrban

    Location: Melbourne, Victoria

vic_harbour UrbanTrans developed guiding principles for integrated land use, urban design, and transport planning strategies as part of the strategic development plan for the proposed 925 hectare Werribee Employment Precinct in Melbourne’s West. The project involved development of a set of ‘activity centre typologies’ for suburban employment precincts, based on case studies in Australia and internationally.
  • Hunter Central Intergrated
    Access & Parking Strategy

    Client: The GPT Group

    Location: Newcastle, New South Wales

    vic_harbour

Development of this major retail-led, mixed-use project in the Newcastle CBD required close attention to efficient transport access and parking management. The project resulted in an integrated access strategy, with tailored approaches for each key traveller market using the site - shoppers, employees, residents, and students. UrbanTrans forecast overall parking demand for the site, utilising a shared-use parking model and factoring in trip reduction from travel demand management strategies.

  • Officer Development
    Sustainable Transport Strategy

    Client: VicUrban

    Location: Officer, Victoria

    vic_harbour

How do you achieve aggressive sustainable transport outcomes at a 380 hectare transit oriented development site 50km from the Melbourne CBD? UrbanTrans developed an innovative travel demand centred approach focusing first on land use and urban design characteristics. The project included comparative modelling of travel and CO2 reductions under base case and various development scenarios.
